Delta Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on May 25, 1957 in Queens, New York. For its duration the chapter has brought before the public issues of community concern and relevance. In addition, community leaders have been cited for their leadership and they have brought to the public their message for support and action.
Delta Beta Zeta continues to be involved in voter registration and candidate forums, financial empowerment workshops and programs concerning health and wellness. For many years, we have given leadership to a teenage group of young ladies, ages thirteen to seventeen, known as our Zeta Archonettes. Many of our Archonettes have been accepted into some of the top-rated colleges and universities in this country and have also chosen to become members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Our little ladies four through seven years old are known as our Zeta Pearlettes. All groups engage in service projects in the community and are considered as an in-service youth development and leadership training experience. Delta Beta Zeta also sponsors the Zeta Amicae of Queens (Friends of Zeta) which is an auxiliary composed of women who exhibit an interest in the ideals and purpose of the sorority but do not have a college degree.
Over the years Delta Beta Zeta has held Black college fairs, essay and oratorical contests, Christmas toy drives at Jamaica Hospital, participation in New York Cares, participation in the March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon, hosted health fairs and numerous other community service programs.
We maintain membership and/or contribute to many organizations of similar goals including:
- NAACP
- United Negro College Fund
- American Diabetes Association
- Sickle Cell Foundation
- Langston Hughes Community Library
- National Council of Negro Women
- National Pan-Hellenic Council
Delta Beta Zeta also enjoys a convivial relationship with our brother chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Rho Sigma through fellowship and joint community service projects.
Delta Beta Zeta members are forging ahead with an ever-increasing momentum to carry out the sorority's noble ideals of Finer Womanhood , Scholarship, Service and Sisterly Love.
