Delta Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on May 25, 1957 in Queens, New York. For its duration the chapter has brought before the public issues of community concern and relevance. In addition, community leaders have been cited for their leadership and they have brought to the public their message for support and action.

Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) is the National Service Initiative for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The purpose of Z-HOPE is to create an interactive holistic multidisciplinary outreach program designed to enhance, cultivate and empower participants to develop health promoting lifestyle choices across the lifespan. Z-HOPE promotes community collaboration whereby Zeta chapters are encouraged to collaborate with existing community organizations and resources to provide optimal quality programs that provide maximum impact. Program areas are designed for specific population groups (Women, youth, seniors, etc.) and address the whole person (mind, body, and sprit).

Delta Beta Zeta has conducted Z-HOPE programs in the areas of domestic violence, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and prematurity awareness, among others. In 2004, the chapter was the recipient of a Better Neighborhoods grant from the Citizens of NYC for a Z-HOPE program held at the Alpha Phi Alpha Senior Citizens Center on disaster preparedness.
