Welcome to the website of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Delta Beta Zeta Chapter. On behalf of the officers and members, I extend our warmest greetings to you.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on the campus of Howard University, Washington, D.C. on January 16, 1920, by five extraordinary women who envisioned an organization whose foundation would embody Service, exemplify Scholarship, embrace Sisterly Love and be the epitome of Finer Womanhood. Our Five Pearls, Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, and Fannie Pettie Watts trail blazed a path that has flourished for over one hundred years, expounding on our founding principles.
On May 25, 1957, Delta Beta Zeta Chapter was chartered in Queens by eight dynamic women, who put forth the foundation we have stood upon for sixty-four years and counting. We have been committed to engaging in community service to programs in Southeast Queens to foster engagement with community partners, who serve children, families, elders, and the environment. We continue to fulfill the national mandates of our illustrious sorority to Get Engaged, through social action to address issues that affect our local and national communities and Zetas Helping Other People Excel (Z-HOPE) through outreach and empowerment.
Our chapter of over 90 diverse and professional women, with assistance from our auxiliaries - Amicae, Zeta Male Network, and Youth Affiliates, continues to blaze new paths in service to our community. I invite you to explore our website and learn more about Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Delta Beta Zeta Chapter.
Yours in Sisterhood and Service,
Lynda Jones-Johnson, LCSW
President
2021 - 2023
The Founders of Zeta, five coeds, were strong, young women who possessed a great deal of modesty, character, and pride in academic achievement. They envisioned a sorority that would directly affect positive change and chart a course of action for the 1920s and beyond. They are a worthy foundation upon which to base our illustrious Sorority.
Zetas are phenomenal women. We represent the collective power of all people when unified by a common spirit and a mission-oriented life. We reiterate the celebration of our diversity and the respect of kindred hearts. From its inception in 1920 at Howard University, Zeta women have rejected the status quo. We uphold four principles: Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love, Finer Womanhood.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. aims to foster the ideas of service, charity, scholarship, civil and cultural endeavors, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. The year 2021 marks 101 years. During this trying year, we celebrated with purpose our Sorority’s first 101 years of community-conscious and action-oriented service throughout the country and abroad!
